Very much agreed to this blog. Certainly one my favorites. Being a certified scrum master and having quit that role due to lot of the very reasons mentioned here. You have astutely observed that scrum methodologies soon degenerate into rituals and that the "one size fits all" kind of processes in scrum / agile methodologies may not work for all teams. The defenders of scrum might point to things that scrum doesn't define such processes and your implementation might be wrong etc.

I think, that scrum / agile manifesto , though might have been written with good intentions, is vague since it easy to make anything correct by making it vague! And when this vague tool is handed over to people they use it like a hammer treating every problem like a nail
