Agreed totally. I too quit from my fultime Android develop projects after nearly 12 years of having done it since the days of Android 2.3 . I can see exactly how similar your journey has been to mine about the different stages of Android.

I worked on some niche project related to virtualization which required low level native Android code including C++ code at times, but most modern Android apps are CRUD apps and the hybrid frameworks like ReactNative\Fullter are poised to reduce the potential available staff\architect jobs which require native iOS\Android skills .

Much worse is that , although Android development was challenging at times due to the api fragmentation, for most of the people in serious business, Android is far less of a skill compared to someone having skillsets like : Backend\Web Servers\ Distributed Systems \ Scaleable skills\ ML\AI etc. Android devs are mostly looked upon those who consume the API from the bigger platofrm dev teams and drwa fancy rectangles on screen (except for some niche apps like virtualization and games).

Now I pursue Android only for hobby projects\POCs and that cool factor 😎to showoff to people how I can do the same things on the tiny mobile devices which they are used to see only on laptops and desktops.
