Sure. I think if a great notation is ever discovered for music, it might even lead to a deeper and rigorous understanding of exactly why some tunes sound better and simplify the creation of new ones. Not to belittle the genius of Mozart, Beethoven, and other great composers, but Maths, in general, is a benevolent force of nature.
